A Day at Into the Blue: Yoga, Surf, and Slow Living by the Ocean
Tucked away between Tangalle and Hiriketiya on Sri Lanka’s south coast, Into the Blue is more than just a boutique stay — it’s a place to pause, breathe, and reconnect. Surrounded by lush jungle and only a few steps from the ocean, our eco-retreat invites you to experience a slower rhythm of life, where nature sets the pace.
Morning Stillness and Ocean Breezes
The day begins early at Into the Blue. As the sun rises over the palms, the sound of waves and birdsong fills the air. At 8:00 am, our daily yoga class begins in the jungle shala, a peaceful open-air space surrounded by tropical green.
Led by passionate teachers, our classes blend Vinyasa Flow, Gentle Yoga, and YangYin styles — open to all levels, from beginners to seasoned practitioners. It’s the perfect way to awaken your body, calm your mind, and start the day grounded in stillness.
(Yoga is included for all guests, and drop-ins are always welcome.)
Breakfast and Island Flavors
From December to March, mornings continue with a wholesome homemade breakfast — tropical fruit, curd and granola, butter cake, and our own homemade jams, served with Sri Lankan coffee and tea. Breakfast is included during these months and enjoyed on our shaded terrace with views of the jungle and sounds of the sea.
During the rest of the year, guests can use our small shared kitchen to prepare light meals and snacks, keeping the same relaxed, home-by-the-ocean feeling all year round.
Surf, Swim, or Simply Slow Down
Just a short walk from Into the Blue, you’ll find three pristine beaches — including Silence Beach, a tranquil spot for swimming and quiet reflection, and Unakuruwa surf point, a gentle right-hander wave that’s ideal for both beginner and intermediate surfers.
We work closely with local surf coaches who know the reef, tides, and rhythm of the sea, offering private or small-group lessons tailored to your level. Whether you’re paddling out for the first time or refining your turns, surfing in Unakuruwa is a joyful way to connect with the ocean.
Whether you’re here to surf in Sri Lanka, practice yoga, swim in turquoise waters, or simply read under a palm tree, the hours unfold naturally — no rush, just rhythm.
Afternoons of Rest and Connection
Our garden and breezy rooms are made for slow living. You might read a book, journal under the mango tree, or explore the southern coast. Many guests visit Tangalle’s beaches, wander through Hiriketiya, or enjoy the local village vibes.

Sunsets and Stillness
As the day fades, guests often walk down to the beach to watch the sky turn gold and pink. Some evenings we offer sunset yoga, sound baths or quiet meditation, letting the ocean set the rhythm for reflection and peace.
